The purpose of the forum is to cultivate a global sisterhood of maternal health professionals committed to advancing equitable, culturally rooted, and community-centered maternal care throughout Africa and the diaspora.

- Convene African and diasporic maternal health professionals for relationship-building, collaboration, and solidarity.
- Exchange traditional, ancestral, and evidence-informed maternal health practices across regions and cultures.
- Explore the impact of water, sanitation, and environmental conditions on maternal and infant health outcomes.
- Elevate the role of birthworkers in improving maternal health equity and reproductive justice.

Africa Health Forum is one of the components of Africa Celebrates. Africa Celebrates is a series of pan-African events organized to celebrate Africa’s rich and diverse cultural heritage. It aims to celebrate Africa’s unity in diversity through integration in the fields of art, culture, heritage, innovation/technology, and business. It encourages us to patronize “Made in Africa” by eating our food, wearing our clothes, watching our films, and enjoying our arts, crafts, music, and dances. It also aims to promote intra- and inter-African trade and tourism with the aim of supporting and empowering women and youth in wealth creation. Finally, Africa Celebrates has been established as a key platform for advancing the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
